Anyway, that’s a long-winded way of saying, “Here, let me tell ya…”, and I’m gonna tell ya.<\/p>\n

Fireworks<\/strong><\/p>\n

Oh, where do I start?\u00a0 How about fireworks.\u00a0 July 4th, or 4th of July, or whatever you want to call it.\u00a0 Independence Day.\u00a0 And with that goes fireworks.\u00a0 So many people loooooooooooooove fireworks.\u00a0 I couldn’t shit care less.\u00a0 Seriously.\u00a0 They do nothing for me.\u00a0 Ok, yeah, they’re kinda cool, but my reaction is more of a… \ud83d\ude10<\/p>\n

Being a semi-serious photographer, I totally don’t get the fascination with fireworks photography.\u00a0 Seriously, what’s the point?\u00a0 All the photos look close enough to the same that they might as well be.\u00a0 There is no discerning difference from one photo to the next.<\/p>\n

Ooh, a story:\u00a0 Many years ago I was leaving Disneyland one night, and while walking to the car the fireworks show started.\u00a0 That’s not what caught my attention, though.\u00a0 What made me stop and stare and chuckle was all the Japanese tourists… and if you don’t see the humor in the stereotype, you’re hopelessly liberally unfunny… stopped and ran for a better vantage point and started shooting dozens of photos.\u00a0 What were they hoping to get?\u00a0 Were these fireworks any different from the fireworks they’d see in Japan or anywhere else?\u00a0 Would they be able to tell the difference?\u00a0 Was it that they were Disneyland Fireworks<\/em> that made them all that more special?\u00a0 The mind boggles.<\/p>\n

And of course, right now, all the yahoo neighbors are out setting stuff off and generally having an inbred good time.<\/p>\n

Procrastination<\/strong><\/p>\n

Procrastination is the bane of my existence. That should be my official trademarked slogan… Ken Boardrow: Procrastination is the Bane of My Existence(tm)<\/em>. Example: When was my last post here? That’s right, about a month ago.\u00a0 Ish.\u00a0 Oh, I’ve had plenty of ideas, on an almost daily basis.\u00a0 I even start writing them down on occasion, and get some pretty good stuff set to keyboard.\u00a0 But do I do anything with it?\u00a0 Not often enough.\u00a0 No, I sit and read random Wikipedia articles, learn about the second largest island in Norway, for example, and generally do nothing productive.<\/p>\n

Selective Hearing<\/strong><\/p>\n

I hear what I want to hear.\u00a0 Ok, not that literal, but sometimes.\u00a0 If you’re constantly harping on me, then of course I’m not going to listen or pay attention.\u00a0 Why would I?\u00a0 I don’t get anything from it.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, sometimes… more often than even I like to admit… I’m so far off into my own world that I’m not hearing anything around me at all.\u00a0 The best part is that I’m probably recreating what I should have said in an argument 30 years ago.\u00a0 Really important stuff.<\/p>\n

How can you tell by looking at me?\u00a0 You can’t.<\/p>\n

Memory<\/strong><\/p>\n

My older family and friends can probably relate to this, but my memory is slipping.\u00a0 I don’t remember things in minute detail like I used to.\u00a0 I have lost count how many times I have had to get out of the car, and go back in the house to get what I forgot.\u00a0 The best part?\u00a0 It’s almost always sitting right next to where everything else was that I did take.\u00a0 So, apparently it’s not only memory, but eyesight as well.<\/p>\n
